We accept the following types of payment:

  • Personal or business check
  • Cash (235 Penny Lane or Hannaford locations only)
  • Money orders
  • Automatic debit via a checking or savings account and it's free!
  • We accept eChecks and you can choose a withdrawal from your savings or checking account for a fee of $1.50.
  • We accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover and American Express credit cards in our office, over the phone or online. There is a fee of $3.00 or 2.65% of the transaction, whichever is higher.  Enjoy the convenience of paying with a credit card today! Please note, you do not have to set up an account with MuniciPAY to make a payment--you simply need the Water Resources account number and the amount you would like to pay. 

There are many places to pay your Water Resources bill:

  • Water Treatment Plant-235 Penny Lane (at the end of Lake Street), 8:00 am - 4:30 pm., Monday - Friday. There is also a drop box at front entrance which is available 24/7 (no cash please).
  • Hannaford's Grocery Stores-on North Avenue, Shelburne Road & Dorset Street
  • Burlington Electric-585 Pine Street
  • Burlington Public Works-645 Pine Street
  • City Hall-149 Church Street

What are the Water, Wastewater and Stormwater rates?  Any other fees to know about?  

Please see our FAQ section for all rate information and we do charge a final meter reading fee.  

We assess a $25 fee on all returned checks, autopays and echecks if they are rejected by your bank. 

Delinquent balances are subject to a 1% interest charge per month. 

Service Collection & Termination Fees: $25 collection fee when we physically go to a property and attempt payment collection (only one fee regardless of attempt tries), $25 water off or on fee during normal business hours (7am-3pm) and $37.50 water reconnection fee after normal business hours.  These special fees are in accordance with Vermont State Statutes, Title 24, Chapter 129: Uniform Water and Sewer Disconnect.
