DPW Operations - Water Plant

During this challenging time, Burlington Water Resources is committed to providing our community with customer care and billing support, along with essential drinking water and wastewater services.  However, we have modified our day to day operations as a precaution to keep you, and our staff, safe and healthy.  Please review the current list of changes and the best ways to get in touch with us now.   

Recent Changes

  • **NEW**We have temporarily suspended site visits to residential properties for non-emergency meter repairs and troubleshooting effective 11/16/20.  
  • The State of Vermont has issued guidance and recommendations for restoring water quality in vacant or low use buildings that were shuttered due to the Stay Home, Stay Safe order.  Review that information today! 
  • All Water & Wastewater facilities remain closed to customers and other visitors. 
  • All Water Resources staff who are able to effectively work from home remain offsite.   

Ratepayer Relief & Assistance

  • **NEW**The State of Vemont's Department of Public Service has a grant program to provide utility bill assistance for overdue residential or non-residential account balances.  Account balances are considered eligible if they are for usage after 3/1/20 and they are more than 60 days delinquent.  The deadline for applications is December 15, 2020 and you can apply at The Department of Public Service website.  If you need have questions about the application process, please contact them at 1-800-622-4496 or PSD.Consumer@Vermont.gov.  If you do not have access to the internet and would like to apply, please contact the Champlain Valley Office for Economic Opportunity at (802)862-2771 or 1-800-287-7971.  They have partnered with the State of Vermont to assist residents who cannot register or apply online. 
  • We have suspended service terminations for non-payment of delinquent water bills.
  • We have suspended the 1% monthly interest assessment on all delinquent balances. 
  • We have suspended the $33 fee assessed on all returned payments.
  • We have eliminated the convenience fee charged on all credit card and echeck payments effective 4/1/20.  
  • We have extended the terms of written payment arrangements for outstanding balances from 12 months to 24 months.  
  • We have suspended the 50% deposit requirement for service line renewals on streets where CY20 capital main rehabilitation work* is scheduled to take place.  

*The status of previously announced capital water & sewer main rehabilitation work for this calendar year is being evaluated.  We will be reviewing each project to determine what efforts can still safely proceed in light of the COVID-19 emergency.
