The City Green - Employee bikeshare currently has two brands of bikes, the Jamis Commuter 3 and the Trek Allant. These bikes are very similar and are considered to be comfortable, upright 'commuter' bikes.
All bikes have a frame size of 17 or 17.5 inches (equivalent to a 'medium') so can be used by anyone from 5ft to 6.5ft tall. There is a simple lever that lets you lower or raise the seat within seconds. The bikes come with a rear rack and multiple gears (7 gears on the Jamis in an internal hub (so no derailers etc which is awesome!) and 21 gears on the Trek in a regular derailer setup). Both are set up with good gearing for going up hills since we do live in Burlington!)
Each bike comes with:
- helmet (helmet use is required),
- lock (a high quality D-lock, which is also required to be used),
- waterproof 'pannier' bag which attaches to the rear rack so that you can put your bag or small laptop in it and feel comfortable that it is safe from the elements,
- metal expandable basket attached to the rear rack so that you can simply drop your bag into it an go,
- bell so that you can ride the bikepath and help others know you are behind them,
- bike computer so that you can see how fast (or slow) you are going! This also helps us track how many miles each bike does annually, and
- kickstand, so that you can park her anywhere,
- pant straps, to make sure your Gucci suit pants dont get chain grease on them ;)
Each location also comes with:
- A floor pump to make sure the tires are at optimal pressure
- tube repair kit (with tire levers and patches) for those people who know how to fix a flat. See Repairs and Maintenance for instructions if you need it.
