Welcome to the Burlington Police Department Citizens Online Police Reporting System.

IF THIS IS AN EMERGENCY OR IN-PROGRESS INCIDENT PLEASE CALL 911.

Using this online citizen police report system allows you to submit a report immediately and print a copy of the police report.

This Online Police Reporting System is for the following incidents ONLY:
 

  • Bad Check
  • Fraud
  • Computer Crime
  • Identity Theft
  • Counterfeiting
  • Prescription Fraud
  • Disorderly Conduct by Electronic Communication
  • Theft of Rental Property
  • Embezzlement
  • Theft of Service
  • Extortion
  • Uttering a Forged Instrument
  • False Pretenses
  • Vandalism/Graffiti
  • Forgery
  • Late Reported Motor Vehicle Accidents

 

If you need to report a Retail Theft or a Larceny, which icludes Theft from a Building, Theft from a Motor Vehicle, or Theft from a Person / Other Means, please call 802-658-2700 to file your report.  

Please confirm the following to find out if online citizen police report filing is right for you:

  • This is not an emergency or an in-progress incident
  • This incident occurred within the City of Burlington city limits
  • This did not occur on an interstate highway

If all of the above is true, you are ready to file your report online.  Please make sure to turn off your pop-up blocking software before filing the report.

Make sure to have any photos, video, or documentation available to attach to your submission.  You will have the ability to attach files to this report, and in some cases, are required to do so.  Providing as much documentation as possible, is encouraged.

Upon completion of this report process you will:

  • See the words: "Your online police report has been submitted" showing that your police report is complete.

  • Be given a police report case number.

Please Note:

  • All cases filed using this system will be reviewed by a Records Clerk.
  • Upon review, if further investigation of your case is needed, you may be contacted.
  • Reporting online only creates a report for reference. This does not mean every report is investigated.  All online reports will be reviewed by a Supervisor. and investigations will be launched if determined necessary by the reviewing Supervisor
  • Filing a false police report is a crime

If you have previously submitted an Online Citizen Report and need to provide further information or add additional documentation, Select the "Begin Incident Report" button above and choose the applicable Incident Type.  On the next page, you will be able to provide a Supplemental Report to a previously filed incident.
