Police Department

Open Data Dashboard

The City of Burlington is committed to making data open and accessible. This interactive dashboard provides a current window into police activity, arrests, traffic stops and use of force incidents. The data is available from 2012 onward and is updated monthly, with a one month lag for use of force incidents and traffic stops.

This dashboard works best in a full browser window, which can be opened by clicking the double arrow icon at the bottom right corner or using this link.

The charts can be filtered down to specific crime types or other variables by using the drop down menus or selecting elements of the chart. For example, by clicking on the "Assault" row in the table on the first page, the map will display only assaults.

Data note:  As of 1/14/2020,  1,331 motor vehicle crashes where a traffic citation was issued that were mistakenly included in the traffic stop dataset have been removed.

The data files for police activity/incidents, arrests, use of force, and traffic stops have moved to the City's open data portal.
