Legacy Project

Burlington Sustainability Partnership

The Burlington Sustainability Partnership was formed in 2013 as a unique, collaborative endeavor between the City of Burlington, the University of Vermont, University of Vermont Medical Center, Champlain College, the Lake Champlain Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Burlington Business Association, and the Chittenden County Regional Planning Commission to realize joint initiatives.  (View the group's Purpose and Values Statement here).  The group's culminating effort was the completion of the sustainability rating system, otherwise known as STAR.

STAR Community Rating System:

urlington is recognized as a 4 STAR Community by the STAR Community Rating System (STAR), the nation’s first framework and certification program for local sustainability, built by and for local governments.  The Rating System encompasses economic, environmental, and social performance measures for both local governments and the broader community.  To learn more about Burlington's achievement, and how Burlington fares in the Rating System's 8 key sectors, please visit:  https://reporting.starcommunities.org/communities/65-burlington-vermont
