Bicycle Services at The Frame

In 2022, Burlington finished the first phase of The FRAME, turning an industrial eyesore into a beautiful piece of art. We are now activating The FRAME and welcome a company (or companies) specializing in bike repair and rentals to be a part of the new park.

The Bicycle Services vendor will have access to 850 square feet of space underneath The FRAME on a gravel base with access to electricity from May 1 until October 15. The vendor may choose to leave equipment on-site or move it daily. As noted in the draft lease, the City is not responsible for any theft or vandalism to items left on-site.
There might be access to a Department of Public Works (DPW) shed, but the access and cost would be negotiated separately with DPW.

SCOPE OF WORK
Provide bicycle-related services, which could include repairs, supplies, and rentals. The expectation is the vendor(s) will have a regular schedule on-site with an emphasis of providing service on weekends. Vendor(s) will need to either post on-site or on a website the hours of operation at least one week in advance. Any change to the schedule within a week must be notified to the main office for Burlington Parks, Recreation & Waterfront.
All improvements to the space must be temporary and removable at the end of the season. A building and zoning permit must be obtained if any structure remains up for thirty days or more. The City will assist with the permit, but all costs associated would be the responsibility of the Vendor.
The lease will be for one season with an option for a second season if the site is not under construction.
