Mayor Miro Weinberger Statement on the Ongoing CCTA Negotiations

I have been in contact with the drivers' union and CCTA today and understand that both parties will be having important meetings tomorrow.  I sense that the parties have worked hard to find a way to end the strike since last Wednesday's Burlington City Council resolution that called on both sides to act.  I urge both sides to continue those focused efforts to resolve the dispute now.  The drivers should be confident as they go forward that the City of Burlington has heard their concerns about the relationship between CCTA managers and drivers, and that the City will be monitoring closely to see that CCTA follows through with committed efforts to improve this relationship.  I have great concern for the schoolchildren, families, patients and others who are being hurt by this ongoing dispute through no fault of their own, and call on both parties to find a way to stop this mounting damage.
