Starting Monday (12/13) - Main Street subsurface utility work

PROJECT NOTICE: On Monday December 13th, a contractor will begin the second phase of subsurface utility investigations along Main Street in preparation for future Capital improvement work. The contractor will be hydroexcavating to locate water service lines, which will require parking trucks and equipment within the roadway shoulders. Crews will be on site from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. each day from December 13th through December 17th. During this time, motorists should expect minor to moderate impacts to traffic flow with some parking impacts between Battery Street and South Union Street.

On December 14th, another contractor will also be performing exploratory geotechnical drilling along Main Street between Battery Street and South Union Street. This work will be occurring from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and last approximately one day. During this time, motorists should expect to encounter short durations of flagger-controlled one-way alternating traffic between Battery Street and South Union Street. Motorists should expect delays, and are encouraged to seek alternate routes.

DETAILS & IMPACTS: Traffic flow and temporary traffic patterns will vary by location, but will generally include shoulder work, flagger-controlled one-way alternating traffic, and work within intersections which may be controlled by uniformed officers. As the contractor moves between blocks, up to 5 parking spaces per block will be impacted for up to one working day. Parking restrictions will be removed as soon as possible.
