Shelburne Street Roundabout

POST-CONSTRUCTION EVALUATION

To measure the success of the Shelburne Street Roundabout Project, Burlington DPW will be evaluating the intersection three times during the next three years to understand how it’s working—6 months after construction (April 2023), 18 months after construction (April 2024) and 30 months after construction (April 2025).

In the evaluation, Burlington DPW will take into account:

  • Side street delays
  • Crashes
  • Speeds
  • Traffic movement through the intersection
  • Public feedback about the roundabout

We can’t gather public feedback without your help. If you have thoughts about the recent Shelburne Street Roundabout, please fill out this five-question online survey: https://tinyurl.com/shelburnecircle

PROJECT INFORMATION

The Shelburne Street Roundabout was completed in November 2022. The Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans) and the Burlington Department of Public Works (Burlington DPW) worked together to improve roadway conditions for all users along US Route 7 (Shelburne Street) in Burlington. This included street reconstruction and the construction of a new single-lane roundabout at the intersection of US Route 7 (South Willard Street), US ALT Route 7 (Shelburne Street), Ledge Road and Locust Street. The project also included the addition of a designated left-turn lane onto Ledge Road and the installation of new pedestrian and bicycle facilities. Furthermore, the project will improve signage, street lighting, drainage, stormwater runoff treatment, and relocate and consolidate utility transmissions underground.
