City Parks Update

Thursday, April 2, 2020

As we continue to keep everyone safe, we are making some changes to our parks facilities:

Still OKAY to do:

  • Resting
  • Walking
  • Running
  • Biking
  • Other solo activities that do not require shared equipment
  • Exploring open spaces that are being underutilized

Not OKAY to do for now:

  • Basketball, tennis, and other court sports
  • Organized games of baseball, soccer, and other field sports
  • Use of playgrounds and fitness stations
  • Use of dog parks
  • Group gatherings or use of park shelters
  • Any other activity that cannot be done without shared equipment and while maintaining six feet of social distance

We know that these are tough changes. We are making these changes for now and will restore access as soon as it is safe.

Community Input:

The City is working to track the success of its new parks policies and could use community input. Currently, Park Ambassadors are out and about, interacting with park users (from a safe distance, of course!) and collecting data about park usage, but they can't be everywhere all the time. For those who are interested, please share your observations by completing this online survey.
