How to Request a Property Valuation Appeal Hearing

If you are aggrieved by the new valuation of your property, you can meet with a Tyler Technologies Appraiser for a Board of Assessor property appeal meeting. You can schedule this hearing in one of three ways:

  • Online: To request your hearing online, visit Information from the form will go to Tyler Technologies. After submitting your information, you must call Tyler Technologies at 1-877-895-9675 to schedule a Board of Assessor (BOA) property valuation hearing date and time. Hearings will be held virtually by computer via Zoom. The hearings take about 10 minutes; please be prepared to highlight the reasons for your appeal, such as a recent appraisal, and be prepared to provide helpful information relating to the valuation of your property.
  • Phone: Alternatively, you can schedule your Board of Assessor property appeal hearing by calling 1-877-895-9675 during normal business working hours. A Tyler employee will schedule a hearing time with you. Please be patient as the line may be busy due to a high number of calls. Please have this letter with you when you call. This letter has information the Tyler employee needs to schedule an efficient hearing.
  • Mail: Lastly, if you don’t have a phone or a reliable computer, you can submit a letter requesting a hearing to the City Assessor’s Office. The letter should include reasons for the appeal of the property value and owner’s opinion of value, and it should be signed the property owner. The letter should also include: owner of record, mailing address, email address (if available), phone number (if available), Parcel ID#, and property location. Please mail the letter to the Burlington Assessor’s Office at City Hall, 149 Church Street, Burlington VT 05401.

Property appeal hearings will be held in April during business hours from 9:00 AM to 4:00  PM.

Please note that the deadline to submit a Grievance Application form or letter of grievance is: April 30, 2021 by 4:00 PM.

Please do not call the Burlington Assessor’s Office for a property valuation grievance hearing. For property owners not contesting the valuation, but who would like to have a data error corrected or ask other questions, please contact the Burlington Assessor’s Office.
