The next Burlington Police Department Community Academy will begin January 9th, 2019. Classes will run for six weeks, meeting each Wednesday at 6pm in the Community Rom at the Burlington Police Department at 1 North Avenue. The last meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, February 12th.  (Class dates: JAN 9, 16, 23, 30, FEB 6, 12).

All classes are taught by Burlington Police Department officers and personnel, and include hands-on opportunities for participants to engage in scenarios based around actually policing calls. Topics will include modern day policing techniques, mental health and drug policy, crime scene investigation, domestic violence, criminal law, use of force, 911 and dispatch procedures, the K9 Unit, and active shooter response.

Requirements: Participants must be 18 years or older, and reside or work in Burlington. All participants must pass a brief background check and have no recent misdemeanor or felony convictions.
