Code Enforcement

Zoning Boards

The zoning regulations that are the basis of the Zoning Division's permitting work are guided by a 7-member Planning Commission appointed by the City Council. It is their responsibility to formulate land use and development policy and regulations for consideration by the City Council.

Another 25 citizen volunteers participate in the development review and permitting process as members of the Development Review Board, Design Advisory Board and Conservation Board, playing key roles in implementing the City’s land use and development regulations. Members of each of the boards are also appointed to their positions by the City Council.

Each year these volunteers dedicate hundreds of hours of their time towards the improvement of the City of Burlington participating in more than 100 public meetings.

As of January 3, 2023, all Development Review Board meetings are in-person at 645 Pine Street.  They will become hybrid format as of June 6, 2023.  Design Advisory Board and Conservation Board meetings will be hybrid format with both in-person and remote attendance options.  In-person is at 645 Pine Street for these meetings as well.
