Your Medical Coverage

  • Detailed Benefits Summary
  • Medical coverage begins the first day of the month following the date of hire.
  • Coverage is available to all eligible employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and eligible dependents up to age 26.
  • The contribution rate paid by the employee is the same regardless the number of people on the plan, meaning single, two-person, or family coverage.
  • Employees share in the cost of medical benefits, which also includes prescription coverage. Medical contributions for full-time employee is 6.239% of an employee's base pay.  
  • Part-time employees pay a prorated contribution amount based on hours scheduled and the number of people on the plan, meaning single, two-person, or family coverage.
  • For employees wishing to add a domestic partner or civil union partner to the City of Burlington's health and/or dental plan, a completed Dependency Affidavit must be on file and coverage is subject to taxation. 
    An additional form is necessary when adding children of a domestic partner or civil union partner.
