The Firehouse:

Fire Station Number 5 has served the city since it was completed in 1991. The men and women of Station 5 respond first due to the City’s south-end district, which is often referred to as the most diverse district in the city. It contains single-family homes, restaurants, breweries, office buildings, apartment buildings, condominium complexes, commercial properties, light industrial buildings, art galleries, a fuel storage depot, and several schools. Station 5 is home to Engine 5 and Ambulance 5 and is staffed with three assigned firefighters. However, Engine 5 is usually staffed with only 2 firefighters due to staffing challenges.

Engine 5

Engine 5 is a 2019 E-One Typhoon with a 1500gpm pump that also provides advanced life support care. It responded to 1022 calls in 2022 and is capable of fire suppression, paramedic-level emergency medicine, ice water rescue, auto extrication, and tactical EMS.

Ambulance 5

Ambulance 5 is a 2013 Ford F-450 with a custom Osage patient compartment that is fully paramedic-equipped to provide advanced life support. Ambulance 5 has no assigned members. It is a reserve ambulance and is sometimes detailed to provide medical coverage at special duty events.
