Riverside Avenue Path Improvements

In planBTV Walk Bike the Riverside Avenue sidepath (bicycle and pedestrian path along the north side of the road) and the path intersection of Intervale Road were identified as areas of conflict between people driving and people bicycling. Over 2017/2018, the Department of Public Works (DPW) will install paint and signs to bring more awareness to the driveway crossings and to the intersection of Intervale Road. This will include: 

• Add green paint and signs at parking lots and driveway crossings (this includes a test of a new material that is more durable and slip-resistant than traffic paint)
• Improve the visibility of the crossing at the intersection of Intervale Road and Riverside Avenue with a green crosswalk 
• Add signs and markings for people bicycling on Riverside Avenue to follow the traffic lights or pedestrian signal to cross safely
