Gazo Avenue Outfall Repair Project

The City of Burlington has contracted with Courtland Construction to complete a repair of an eroded stormwater outfall off of Gazo Avenue.  Work for this project started in the middle of July and project completion should be by the end of September.

The project includes the following tasks:

  • Clearing of vegetation,
  • Installation of a temporary flow bypass for the stormwater baseflow currently in the outfall channel,
  • Installation of a new outfall structure,
  • Backfilling of the channelized area with clean fill,
  • Grading of the fill material,
  • Installation of stabilization measures while vegetation is re-established.

An overview of the project area can be found here: Gazo Overview.pdf  (Note: Landowner names have been redacted for their privacy.)

In addition to the outfall repair work, the City of Burlington has also contracted with the University of Vermont's Spatial Analysis Laboratory to obtain drone footage of the channel before and after construction occurs.  The inital flight will occur during the week of July 17, after vegetation has been cleared.  The final flight will occur after construction is completed.  The drone flight will be over the project area only.
