Governance and Funding

Governance and the Community Advisory Committee

As the CJC moved through its planning stages and developed into an operating Community Justice Center the original Steering Committee evolved into its current role as a Community Advisory Committee (CAC). The CAC is composed of volunteers from Burlington neighborhoods, representatives from local service groups and City and State Officials. It meets monthly to discuss CJC programs and priorities.   The current CAC members are

  • Richard Kemp, 862·4418, rtkemp@aol.com
  • Ken Schatz,865·7121, kschatz@burlingtonvt.gov
  • Lt. Emit Helrich, 658-2704
  • Sally Fox, sallygfox@gmail.com
  • Bram Kranichfeld, 802-338-1992, bwkranic@yahoo.com
  • Deb Thibault,863-7454, debbiet@doc.state.vt.us
  • MarijaValencak, 655-1963, mvalencak@vrrp.org

Funding and support

The Community Justice Center is a program of the City of Burlington's Community and Economic Development Office. Some of the sources of financial and "in-kind" support have come from:

  • The City of Burlington
  • Burlington's Community & Economic Development Office (CEDO)
  • Vermont's Agency of Human Services (Department of Corrections and Social and Rehabilitation Services)
  • The Vermont Center for Crime Victim Services
  • Local Law Enforcement Block Grant

Most importantly, our work would not be possible without the thousands of volunteer hours performed annually by hundreds of community volunteers.
